Many women across the country seek breast implant revision every year. No matter how carefully the surgery is planned, how many pre-operative consultations are held, or how thorough the post-operative instructions are followed, thousands of women seek improved satisfaction with the overall results of their augmentation surgery. Since there are so many physicians, types of procedures, and types of implants available, it is important for the patient to thoroughly research all options in order to make the best decision for their health and overall goals.

One of the most common reasons women seek a revision is due to deflation and loss of overall size or shape. This can be due to a number of different reasons, and dangerous causes of saline or silicone leakage should be ruled out before breast revision surgery is planned. The plastic surgeon will review all options available and help the patient make informed decisions that fit with their overall health, initial surgery, and realistic expectations.

In some cases, women that choose to have very large implants placed at the time of their initial surgery may later decide that less is actually more. Or a patient may decided she would like to increase the site of her implant. In these situations, the plastic surgeon can discuss revising the initial surgery with smaller or larger saline or silicone products and an overall lift that will improve the final appearance and shape. Many women find they are much happier with a different implant size after their breast implant revision and enjoy the benefits of their re-augmentation for many more years to come.

The Summer of Breast Augmentation

Perhaps unsurprisingly, plastic surgeons across the world see an uptick in the number of women coming into their offices as summer approaches. As it is with the gym and with diet book sales, people realize that summer is just around the country and they begin thinking about how they will look in that bikini. This leads many women to think not only about doing a few extra crunches and skipping the pie after dinner, but indeed about breast augmentation to help fill out that top just a bit better.

This is more than simply anecdotal evidence, however. Researchers in Britain recently completed a survey of over 3,000 women, which helped to shed a great deal of light on many of the insecurities they experience as the summer bathing season arrives. Nearly 75 percent of the women expressed some degree of worry when it came to putting on their bathing suits for the first time and stepping out onto the beach. While this does not directly correlate with increased breast enhancement surgery, it is easy to see that the season causes quite a bit of self-discontent across the globe.

While women choose to get breast augmentation for a number of reasons, self esteem is typically high on that list. In summer, both men and women are put in situations where they can no longer hide their bodies underneath flattering clothes if they want to experience the fun of the beach and other outdoor activities. Breast enhancement and other cosmetic surgeries can help give women the confidence they need to shed those clothes without a lot of worry.

What Do Gummy Bears Have To Do With Breasts!?

When you think "gummy bear," you probably imagine a little candy snack that squishes in your mouth. Well, there's a new kind of gummy bear, and it's designed for your breasts. Introducing, "gummy bear breast implants."

That's not the technical name, of course. They are called "cohesive gel" implants, and they are a variation on traditional silicone and saline implants. The reason they are called "gummy bears" is because they feel like the popular candy when you squeeze them.

These cohesive gel implants hold lots of promise. Breast implants are quite safe these days, but we all know that a rupture or leakage could cause major problems. Gummy bears are made tougher, so they are less likely to break. Even though they are stronger, they are just as flexible as silicone implants. This means that they give you a natural feel.

Not every plastic surgery clinic offers gummy bears yet. They are still new and in the experimental stages. But, these new implants could one day take the breast augmentation world by storm. Lots of women are now "going gummy" and getting cohesive gel implants as an alternative to silicone and saline.
